The Academy offers a range of diverse career experiences. We offer opportunities which develop skills of reasoning, problem solving, cooperation and communication, which are all important within a rich careers curriculum.

Opportunities across the curriculum involve:

  • Drop-down Events;
  • Options Evenings;
  • Enterprise Events;
  • Assemblies with guest speakers;
  • Mock interviews;
  • Work experience;
  • Careers Library;
  • and more.

Work Experience

Every pupil is provided with work experience opportunities in Year 10. Work experience is an opportunity to gain insight into the world of work, and prepare for the responsibilities and opportunities of adult life. Work experience also helps you to decide if chosen roles or industries are somewhere where they see themselves in the future. You'll find out first-hand if the job is for you and be given opportunities to ask questions to the professionals.

We also offer a range of enrichment activities including:

  • Visiting speakers;
  • Mentoring;
  • Trips and visits;
  •  Sessions during taught curriculum time.

Higher Education

The academy has excellent links to post-16 providers, colleges and Universities. Every pupil has the opportunity to explore what it is like to learn in higher education.

The academy is part of the Co-op Academies Trust whose sponsor, The Co-op, provides a number of apprenticeships.

The University of Manchester Gateways Programme allows learners in Years 7-11 to participate in a series of academic enrichment and higher education awareness activities. Throughout this programme, pupils can find out more about University life, higher education, and they can also develop a range of skills that will aid success at GCSE and beyond!
