Success at the Manchester Schools Athletics Championships!

On Friday, 9th May, a group of our Year 9 pupils took part in the Manchester Schools Athletics Championships at Sportcity, and what a fantastic day it was!

We’re thrilled to share that our athletes brought home two gold medals and a bronze:

  • Isabella – Gold in the 75m hurdles. Isabella is currently ranked 5th in the country following her performance at a national hurdles event.

  • Lexie – Gold in the 300m, achieving a new personal best of 47.07 seconds and receiving an invitation to compete at County level.

  • Bronze in the boys' javelin, with another impressive showing.

All the pupils gave their absolute best on the day and were a real credit to the academy, displaying excellent behaviour and sportsmanship throughout the event.

Ms Flannery, Head of PE said, “The pupils have worked so hard on their athletic ability since Year 7 and are truly committed to showing up and giving their best. The fact that we’re still achieving gold medals in Year 9 is a testament to their dedication and effort. They should all be as proud of themselves as we are!”

We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part!
