Achievements
The Pupil Council has worked tirelessly to improve the following areas of the academy:
- The Environment: The Year 7 Council worked to inform pupils about the impact of plastic on society and how this could be improved within our academy.
- Healthy Breakfasts: The Year 10 Council have researched how they could help provide healthier food options in the canteen. They were keen to ensure that pupils had nutritional food to prepare them for the school day and their extracurricular pursuits.
- The Well-Being Garden: The Year 8 Council have developed ideas on a well-being garden to help promote our mental health awareness.
- Year 9 Fundraising: The Year 9 Council worked to raise an impressive amount of funds for local charities, including ‘The George House Trust’. They raised awareness of World Aids Day across the academy, and invited members of the George House Trust to speak to Yr 7 pupils in a Q and A session.
- Standing Up to Bullying: The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors have carried out training in the academy and other schools across the north-west as well as presenting the new anti-bullying policy to parents. They helped write the along with a pupil charter.
All of these actions have had a positive impact on how the pupils feel valued and demonstrate how the academy’s values of Trust, Respect and Commitment link to the work undertaken by the Council.
Being council members helps our pupils to embody the wider Co-op Values:
