Home Learning
We have invested in a range of online learning platforms to support pupils with independent home learning.
As part of our digital commitment, every pupil has access to a chromebook that they can use in school and at home to access curriculum resources.
To support pupils learning from home, we have invested in a range of online learning platforms to support our pupils with their independent home learning at Co-op Academy North Manchester. Please find the relevant information and links to the platforms below.
All pupils have been provided with their log-in details for the relevant platforms.
How to Access Google Classroom
You can find instructions on how to access Google Classroom here.
Having trouble? Please email our troubleshooting email address:

Pupils will not be able to type directly into the document in Google Classroom. They will need to download the document first.
You can find visual instructions on work completion here.
We ask that pupils keep the work they’ve completed and hand it in on their return.
Sparx Maths
Sparx Maths is an online revision and homework platform specifically designed to support pupils with Maths. They are able to access videos, questions and quizzes to support their maths learning. All pupils have access to Sparx Maths.

Remote Education Provision
This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents/carers about what to expect from remote education where national or local restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home.
The Remote Curriculum
A pupil’s first day or two of being educated remotely might look different from our standard approach while we take all necessary actions to prepare for a longer period of remote teaching.
How will my child be taught remotely?
We use a range of approaches to teach pupils remotely.
Such as:
- Live teaching (online lessons).
- Work set through Google Classroom.
- Recorded teaching (e.g. Oak National Academy lessons, video/audio recordings made by teachers).
- Textbooks and reading books pupils will have at home.
What should my child expect from immediate remote education in the first few days after pupils are sent home?
Within 24 hours of being sent home, pupils will receive work via Google Classroom or lessons will be streamed via Google Classroom and Google Meet. These lessons will be timetabled in line with the ordinary school timetable.
Following the first few days of remote education, will my child be taught broadly the same curriculum as they would if they were in school?
Wherever possible and appropriate, we teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school. However, we have needed to make some adaptations for some subjects, such as PE. Additionally, where pupils have been working on Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) work, it may not be appropriate to continue with this remotely.
How long can I expect work set by the school to take my child each day?
We expect that remote education (including remote teaching and independent work) will take pupils around 4-5 hours each day.
How will my child access any online remote education you are providing?
Our remote learning offer is delivered through Google Classroom. All students have been provided with a Google account, which allows them to access their school email, Google Classroom and Google Meet.
If my child does not have digital or online access at home, how will you support them to access remote education?
We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home.
If a pupil requires a laptop or a dongle to enable them to complete their work, please contact us by:
📞 Telephone
0161 681 1592 (8:00–16:00)

and ask to speak with your child’s Head of Year.

Year 11: noma-headofyear11@coopacademies.co.uk
Printed Materials
With the systems we have put in place, we do not think it is likely any pupil would need printed materials. However, if there is a special need for printed materials, please contact the school by the methods detailed above.
Engagement and Feedback
Our expectations for pupils working remotely mirror those in the academy. We expect that pupils submit work that is set independently, to the best of their ability, at the time of their ordinary lesson. For example, work for period 1 would need to be completed by 10:00; work for period 2 by 11:00 and so on.
Similarly, for any live lesson, we would expect that pupils attend, participate and engage in the same manner they would in an ordinary lesson taught in the academy.
We know how incredibly important it is for pupils to maintain a normal routine, that they submit work on a daily basis and don't miss any lessons. We would therefore ask that all parents/carers support the school in setting routines to support your child’s education.
How will you check whether my child is engaging with their work, and how will I be informed if there are concerns?
Pupils’ engagement with remote education will be checked daily, via attendance of live lessons and/or the submission of online work.
Parents and carers will be informed of their child’s engagement level on a daily basis via parent mail.
How will you assess my child’s work and progress?
Feedback can take many forms and may not always mean extensive written comments provided to individual children. The school uses a variety of different methods to assess and give feedback on pupils’ work. here are a few examples:
- Quizzes, marked automatically by Google Classroom.
- Individual written feedback.
- Immediate feedback during live lessons.
- Whole-class feedback.
- As a minimum, pupils will receive feedback in line with the school marking and feedback policy.
How will you work with me to help my child who needs additional support?
We recognise that some pupils may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those pupils in the following ways:
- 1-2-1 teaching via Google Meet.
- Providing additional resources and materials.
- Providing alternative work.

Remote Education for Self-isolating Pupils
Where individual pupils need to self-isolate, but the majority of their peer group remains in school, a tailored remote education provision will be required. This is due to the challenges of teaching pupils both at home and in school.
If my child is not in school because they are self-isolating, how will their remote education differ from the approaches described above?
If your child is not in school as they are self-isolating, the school will ensure they have access to a planned and well-sequenced curriculum with meaningful and ambitious work set for their period of self-isolation. This will take place within 24 hours of being informed.
All work will be set through Google Classroom and will cover all the subjects that the pupil studies in the academy. Pupils will be expected to work through this independently.
Feedback will be provided via quizzes marked automatically. Although in some instances, for example in Art, pupils will be asked to submit work to individual class teachers once they return to the academy.
