Open Evening 2026

The evening of Thursday, 1st October was one of excitement and discovery as a record-breaking 350+ parents and children explored our academy halls for the first time. Our teachers and staff were prepared to put an unforgettable show on as each department demonstrated the best that Co-op Academy North Manchester has to offer.

From interactive experiments to show-stopping performances, here’s a look back at what went on:

πŸ§ͺ Science: Science teachers created dramatic fireballs in the chemistry labs, inviting gasps from the audience and maybe singing a couple of our teacher’s arm hairs along the way. In the biology lab, our future scientists got messy with an experiment that showed them the true meaning of “hands-on”.

πŸ“– English & The Library: To celebrate the magic and joy of literature, our Library team hosted a special book giveaway where visitors could pick a free book to take home and keep.

🧠Maths: Attendees set their sights on the top of our leaderboard and tested their times tables and with our 'Hit the Button' activity, while others sharpened their problem-solving skills with our exciting Maths challenges.

🎭 Performing Arts & Music: Our budding young performers were to be found all over the academy: the music suite hosted live jam sessions, vocal performances warmed the audience up for the principal’s presentation, and live kettledrums brought tropical vibes to the canteen.

🎨 Art & Design: Creativity was on full display in the Art department, where visitors watched and participated in live painting sessions in action as students worked on contemporary pieces.

πŸ“œ History: Young detectives used their powers of deduction to examine historical clues and find out what truly happened to the lost colonists of Roanoke Island.

🌍 Geography: Geography teachers demonstrated a fascinating tsunami-proof living simulation, showing how modern engineering can protect coastal communities.

πŸ’» IT & Computing: Future tech leaders gathered in the IT suites to watch interactive robotics demonstrations, learning how coding and automation are built into our curriculum.

🍳 Hospitality & Catering: Guests were treated to cakes and focaccias baked by our pupils and had their senses challenged in a "Guess what's under the box?" game.

⚽ PE: Down in the sports hall, visitors took on penalty shootout challenges and a special guest appearance from the Manchester United Foundation’s iconic Red Devil mascot, highlighting our strong community partnership in action.

Thanks to all the staff and pupil volunteers whose hard work made the open evening the success it was. To the families who attended: we can’t wait to welcome you to our academy family in the next academic year.
