Manchester United's Hannah Blundell Visits Co-op Academy North Manchester with FA Cup Tour to Inspire Young Footballers

On Thursday 15th May, we were honoured to welcome a very special guest to the academy, Manchester United star Hannah Blundell, just days before Manchester United took to the pitch in the Women’s FA Cup Final against Chelsea on Sunday 18th May.

The visit formed part of this year’s FA Trophy Tour, themed ‘Creative Expression On and Off the Pitch.’ Hannah brought the FA Cup with her and spent time with our girls’ football team, sharing her journey in the game and encouraging the next generation to chase their dreams, in all areas of their lives.

As part of the event, pupils contributed to a powerful ribbon art installation, each writing personal, empowering messages on colourful ribbons. These ribbons, full of support and good luck, were later tied to the goalposts used in the final, a symbolic tribute to individuality, team spirit and the joy of women’s football.

While Manchester United fell just short in the final against Chelsea, Hannah’s visit left a lasting impact. The day was a true celebration of resilience, inspiration and the power of sport to bring people together.

The experience continued with a fun and high-energy football skills session led by the Manchester United Foundation, giving our pupils the chance to learn new techniques and build confidence on the pitch.

Mrs Sloper-Russell, Principal of Co-op Academy North Manchester, said:

“It was an honour to welcome Hannah Blundell and the FA Cup to our academy. Hannah’s story and passion for football deeply inspired our pupils. Even though the result didn’t go Manchester United’s way, Hannah demonstrated to our pupils that leadership, determination and grace in both victory and defeat are what make a true role model.”
