Congratulations to Year 11 who celebrated 5 years at Co-op Academy North Manchester today in their leaver’s assembly. We wish the Class of 2025 the very best for the future, and we look forward to celebrating further at the upcoming Year 11 Prom and on Results' Day: 21st August. In the autumn term, we will invite leavers to return to the academy for a Celebration Evening where our alumni will be awarded their GCSE certificates in a final opportunity to recognise their wonderful achievements. A reminder though, on Monday 16th June Year 11 have their final Physics exam, so all Year 11 pupils will return to school ready for a 9am start. Following that, there are still Music, Spanish and DT exams; the final exam is DT on Wednesday 18th June.
As always, we aim to support the community in every way that we can, and we really would be grateful for any Year 11 uniform that is still wearable e.g. blazers, PE kits, ties, shirts, skirts and trousers. Anything not damaged, we can clean and iron and use as stock next year to help families with the cost of living. As one year group leaves, we are also preparing for the future with Open Evening coming up on Thursday 26th June when we will welcome prospective Y5 and Y6 pupils to visit the academy where I will be giving an address, and you can sign up for a tour of our fantastic facilities here: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/co-op-academy-north-manchester
Now to recognise a highlight this week: our Year 11 Citizenship pupils started a community action campaign in the autumn term that has directly resulted in the installation of average speed cameras on Victoria Avenue East. This is an achievement that speaks to the power of succeeding together and doing what matters most. This action will have a profoundly positive effect on the local community for years to come and is a really significant legacy for our community advocates - read more about this victory below.
Finally, a reminder: as a way to help deliver key positive messages and important reminders, we have launched a Co-op Academy North Manchester Instagram account, so if you use the platform we encourage you to also receive our news via @coopnorthmcr in addition to @coopacademynm on Facebook. As always, contacting the academy is easy via noma-enquiries@coopacademies.co.uk.
Attendance to school is absolutely vital and there are so many exciting events and opportunities planned for the remaining 5 weeks and 2 days- not least the Co-op Academies production of Sweeny Todd starring some of our pupils on 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th July at Co-op Academy Manchester (M9 0WQ) - please get your tickets here: www.ticketsource.co.uk/cam.
Best wishes
Mrs Sloper-Russell
