Year 10 Pupils Blast Off on Educational Trip to Jodrell Bank

Our Year 10 pupils experienced a highly engaging and enlightening educational visit to the world-renowned Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics on Thursday, 13th November 2025.

This trip was a crucial component of their current Science curriculum, directly supporting their learning on the understanding and exploration of space.

During the visit, pupils participated in an immersive tour of the cutting-edge research facility. They also had the chance to explore the interactive exhibit spaces, helping them visualise and comprehend complex astronomical concepts. A key highlight was the dedicated Q&A session where pupils engaged directly with academics, asking questions about the pivotal work being carried out by the Lovell Telescope.

This hands-on experience provided an invaluable real-world connection to the material covered in the classroom, bringing the theoretical aspects of space science to life.

Reflecting on the Visit
Mr. McIntyre, Head of Science, shared his thoughts on the educational value of the trip:

“The visit to Jodrell Bank was a fantastic opportunity for our Year 10 pupils. Seeing the scale of the research and having direct access to working scientists truly solidified their understanding of the curriculum topic on space. These trips make science real and inspire our young people to consider future careers in this exciting field.”

This successful educational trip reinforces our commitment to providing pupils with diverse learning opportunities that enhance their classroom studies and spark their curiosity about the wider world.
