National School Sports Week took place commencing 16th June 2025. Our academy was buzzing with energy as we proudly celebrated the event. Our dedicated PE department planned an exciting and diverse programme of activities designed to ignite a passion for physical activity and encourage all our young people to achieve the recommended 60 active minutes of school sport and physical activity every day.
National School Sports Week is a national initiative that highlights the vital role of physical education, school sport and play in the holistic development of children and young people. It promotes not only physical health but also mental wellbeing, social skills, and resilience.
Throughout the week, during their regular PE lessons, pupils from Year 7 to 10 had the opportunity to participate in a wide array of engaging activities, pushing their boundaries and trying new things. The exciting line-up included:
- Essential Life Skills: First aid workshops
- Combat Sports: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Tag Wrestling
- Precision and Strategy: Bowls and Golf
- Team Sports: Ultimate Frisbee and Unihoc
"It was wonderful to see so many of our pupils embracing the spirit of National School Sports Week," commented Mrs. Flannery, Head of PE. "Their enthusiasm and willingness to try new activities was truly inspiring. This week underscored the importance of movement and teamwork, and we hope it sparks a lifelong passion for sport and physical wellbeing in all of them."
It was truly an engaging and active week for all involved! We saw tremendous enthusiasm and participation from our pupils across all year groups, reinforcing the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle. A huge well done to everyone who took part and made National School Sports Week such a resounding success.
