Welcome from Co-op Academy North Manchester
The sun has been shining at Co-op Academy North Manchester, and I’m writing to share our pupils' accomplishments and some of the many positive moments over the past ten days.
First and foremost, thank you to all of our parents and carers who attended the Year 8 Progress Evening before the bank holiday weekend - it was great to meet so many parents and carers proud of their children and invested in the academy. I'm keen to get your feedback from Year 8 Progress Evening to inform future events and so, even if you were unable to attend in person, please complete this short survey: Progress Evening Feedback Form - it will only take 5 minutes. By completing the survey, you’ll enable me to better support you in helping your child to succeed.
I believe that strong partnerships are essential to the success and wellbeing of our pupils and want to take this opportunity to update you on the actions that I am taking following the Edurio survey that you completed in February. Thank you for your responses and for helping me to understand what we’re doing well and where we can improve. Your insights have helped shape my priorities since Easter and you can read a summary of what you said and what I’m doing about it here: Parent Survey Feedback.
Now for a highlight, last Thursday evening, I was incredibly proud to see several of our pupils representing Co-op Academy North Manchester and the Manchester United Foundation as flag bearers at the second leg of the UEFA Europa League semi-final at Old Trafford. This was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to be part of a major sporting event and to represent their academy and our community on such a prestigious platform. They were wonderful ambassadors, and I was proud to see them exit the tunnel and, as an added bonus, watch Manchester United win 4–1 over Athletic Bilbao.
In addition, over the past week I’ve had the pleasure of delivering assemblies to all year groups on The Science of Sleep. Having 8 hours of sleep every night is essential to our wellbeing, focus, and emotional resilience - particularly for young people who are still developing and need to be at their best to learn. Remember, the school day begins at 8.30am and pupils can enjoy a free breakfast from 8am every day - it’s really important that pupils are on time and ready to learn. It’s been great hearing pupils reflecting on their sleep habits and considering how small changes to their routines can make a big difference.
Finally and very importantly, wishing our Year 11 pupils the very best of luck in their final examinations, which are now well underway. Year 11 have been given their own personalised revision timetables and have been working really hard and taking advantage of all the after-school revision sessions on offer. Good luck - we’re all behind you every step of the way!
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support.
Best Wishes
Mrs Sloper-Russell
